There are those who define them as suicides, others as supermen, but in the history of the famous divers of Acapulco there is a sum of passion, addiction and need. The truth is that behind each jump, each diver, there is a story.
The Quebrada is a cliff of 147.63 feet high, with a channel of 23 feet wide and 13.12 feet deep. It´s located in the port of Acapulco, Guerrero, in the south of México, which was created when dynamited the hill. The highest jumps, are made mainly from a platform with an altitude of 114.82 feet above sea level.
Up there, the popular jumps are made since 1934, by the young boys of the port, who climb with a lighted torch. Is danger lies, in the calculation of the exact moment when the level of the sea is on is higher point by the wave, otherwise would it be a certain death due to the impact against the bottom rocks, located underwater in the shallow in lands when the levels go lower by the tides.
